Thanks guys - that's much appreciated advice. I'll knock up a couple of test pieces using this method before I try the large, thin production parts.

Baja is spot on with this.  You need the release film between peel ply and mesh and you will find it much easier to demould afterwards.

I had exactly the same problem, was battling to get the stack out, stuck down so hard, especially when loaded with resin.

You can just add a layer of perforated release film to the stack, in between the peel ply and infusion mesh. Its not the peel-ply that makes it difficult, it is in fact the mesh. The mesh came off really easily and then the peel ply also acts as it should and comes off nicely in strips.

You will find you need the peel ply, because I noticed when removing the mesh, the release film is weak n fragile, it will come off with the mesh, but I think if you had only release film the mesh may be permanently stuck to your part.

Btw the part was the best I ever made.

cheers

Hi,

I have a large, thin (1 and 2 layers of CF cloth), complex shape to infuse in a rather flexible mold. I have successfully infused one piece already but found the task of removing the peel ply and resin flow mesh after curing to be very difficult, and came close to damaging the this (2 layer) carbon part before removing it from the mold. I have to infuse a number of equally large parts that consist of only a single layer of carbon cloth and I am pretty sure they will not survive removing the peel ply and mesh layers.

Can I use perforated film instead of peel ply beneath the resin transfer mesh? I don't need the peel ply finish anyway?

Thanks,

     Phil.
