That yellow backed prepreg looks like Impregantex IMP530.
That self sealing bag looks cool, who makes that?

More importantly, is it reusable?

As far As I know you can not Re-use the bag... Like I said in the video 100°C is really pushing the bag to its limits... the bag get melted/sticking together when they are in direct contact Smile

Joli travail Mathieu,

Cette vidéo peut donner des idées à certains.

Par contre tu as quelques facilités, comme le four par exemple, qui donnent envie de faire du bon travail.

La pièce, c'est un protège poignet, un truc du style?

Seb.

Cool... I use the same bag to debulk smaller parts and they work well and I have used the same bag 5 or 6 times now and it is still perfectly fine. I dont even use bagging tape.. It does need the pump left on to keep a good vacuum but I leave the pump on anyway..

I do a few things a little differently with my lay up and I do run over onto the flange with the surface layer and run narrow strips of peel ply under the carbon on the flange to help get the air off the surface but then even my small parts are larger than yours.  The one thing you do which I never do is allow the mould to cool before de-moulding. I always de-mould hot as I have seen moulds where the gel coat has crazed on the surface due to the mould cooling and contracting round the carbon due to the differences in expansion.

Hi Matthieu,

Good video but you really need to wear nitrile gloves when handling the prepreg i.e. when you're cutting it etc... you'll end up with an epoxy reaction, I've seen it happen to a few people, one couldn't even be in the same room without coming out in a rash.

There's a couple of things with the handling that caught my eye such as you don't defrost the prepreg before taking it out of the bag, this can introduce moisture to the surface (dew) and wreak the parts and I know you don't have much there but when you are using rolls of the stuff you need to ensure you can calculate the remaining outlife correctly.

The resins used in prepreg can be pretty hot stuff so you need to be in some cases even more careful than handling plain epoxy laminating resin.

Hi and welcome to the forum Chris Wink

Thanks for the tips and hints! while making the video I've noticed my mistake by not defrosting it before opening the bag.
I didn't know you had to wear gloves while cutting the prepreg without direct contact with the epoxy and so on, I'll keep that in mind for my future video's and let everyone know it's important to do so, because I always try, and think it's very important, to work as safe as possible with those composite materials!
