Would styrene work good as a thinner for GC50?
Mine is getting a bit old and starts to gel a little, not possible to spray anymore.

The reason it's gelling is partly because some styrene has evaporated but also because some cross linking has happened between the ester groups. Adding styrene to it will thin it, but it will also permanently break some of the bonds that have allredy happened while it was stored in the can. That's why they say you should use it 3-6 months after manufacture. It will never be the same and theres higher chances of it cracking. You're better off warming the resin if possible (10 second in the microwave). Or better, work in a warmer environment. You could also thin using a bit of acetone. Not too much or you'll get solvent pop.

I thin resins by standing the main pot in an outer pot of boiling water. Works a treat!

Thanks, how much does the heat shorten the geltime?
