We use Cf in the Medical Physics Department.
At the moment I’ am changing over all the Acrylic setting pieces to foam filled CF for the Radiotherapy units. When they use Acrylic in any procedure they have to make a setting change, as the Acrylic soaks up some of the radiation. Using CF at 0.5 thick gives the same rigidity but does not need a setting change.
We have a total of 7 units that need every thing changing over.
I have made several Aluminium molds as per Koenigsegg Sport cars. They work really well but take a lot of time to manufacture and design.
I have a machine shop within the Hospital with 3D machining, Solidworks and a large oven for the pre-preg.
We use Pre-preg as the resin is guaranteed to be a precise thickness unlike wet lay.
This may sound picky but it does make a big difference.
I will carry on making Ally molds.
All the best.
