Carbon brakes have absolutely nothing to do with usual carbon composites, from a process view. As a hobbyist you will not get the materials or the equipment. The process I was involved in was this: resin impregnated fibres (not epoxy) were placed into a mould and baked. This burned the resin, leaving only graphite. after this the now porous material was infused with resin and baked several times to get rid of the porosity. So in the end you get a carbon fibre reinforced graphite material, which is much more heat resistant than any crp. So no, it is absolutely not a straight forward process.
