Hey Guys,

just a quick question: has anyone tried to cure EG160 mould with slightly elevated temperature in the oven? I have a project where time is important and I want to reduce the curing time from 24h to perhaps 18h by putting the mould in the oven with about 35/40 degree.

Anyone tried that and has some info?

I havent done it specifically with EG160, but I do it all the time with epoxies. I would put it in the oven initially for an hour or two at 35, then increase it to 55. This will just help control the exotherm in any areas where it might be quite thick. Once it has gelled and the heat has dissipated a little bit, increase the temperature to cut your cure time. I find 55 works well, but with a high temp epoxy you can probably go as high as 65/70 without having to ramp.

Although there is no specific elevated temperature curing data, it should be possible to do as Hanaldo suggests.

However, be very careful that the pattern you are moulding from is suitable for going to that temperature.  Commonly EG160 based moulds are cured at room temperature then post cured later, because the pattern isn't made from high temperature suitable materials.
