Hello,

I'm  a newbie  to the forum and but I hope that someone here can help me.
I,m  using Xencast P2 for casting and have problem with bubbles forming on the surface of the cast. Can I use slightly less hardner in the mix to extend the pot life of the resin and allow more time for the air bubbles to escape?

No, this won;t work, you'll effectively end up with resin which won't cure properly - the ratio is 1:1 by weight and you need to be very accurate with this; think of part A and part B as two halves of the same material, too much of one side compared to the other and the two won't commingle and cure correctly.

One thing you can try which appears somewhat counter-intuitive is to actually almost whip the resin, be really quite vigorous - unlike more viscous resins such as epoxy, the P2 and P6 both appear to achieve better finished results when you almost whip the two parts together.

Also, mix and use straight away, the short pot life means you don't have time to hang about - if you're steady with getting it into your mould, it may have already started to thicken towards the gel point and then the air struggles to release through the resin.

I hope this helps Smile

I will try the whipping technique then.
