Hi looking to build a outboard pod it goes on the back of a boat and the engine hangs off it needs to be really strong

I am planning on using 630gram m2 woven roving 15 layers the pod is shaped like a box the.laminate will be inside lining of the box the corners will be 3 layers times 15 layers do really up to 45 layers thick in certain sections

Hand lay up is not a option due to the extense labor time

Just wondering if it could be done using vacuum infusing? Are there any techniques i can use or tricks of the trade?

What size pump do u think i will need? The side of the box is roughly .5 m3 1 laminate is around 1.5 m2 and i need 15 layers

Resin will be vinylester 60min working time

Thanks

Should not be a problem with a roving fabric, as they are open enough to get good resin flow through the stack. I would however use a slower resin to avoid thermal runaway.

I have available 60min pot life infusion vinyl ester resin
Can u tell me the difference between a 50 litre per minute pump and a 300 litre 0er minute.pump both have 5pa of pressure one is single stage the other is 2 stage
Also can i have the most outer layer the side that will be seen woven roving insyltead of chopped mat?
Also with vacuum infusion am i able to use multiple layers of woven roving on top of each other without having chopped strand mat between layers like hand lay up?

Cheers

Ah i have next to no experience working with vinyl ester resins.
I made 15mm thick glass fiber parts with light weaves at the surface and then roving fabric as backing with no problem at all.
For infusion the end pressure of the pump is important. The flow rate will not change anything for the infusion itself.

So i am looking for 30hg of pressure right? I'm thinking of using the MTI hose because its cheaper than buying a catch pot but unsure how to read the pressure without the catch pot
