Hello,

I know this topic has been discussed here before. I am looking for a solution to cut carbon fiber sheets. So far I got perfect results only outsourcing to a water-jet cutter but it is expensive to use on a regular basis. I tried driving a dremel with different discs (diamond and for plastic PVC) on a linear  guide, the result is great but not perfect. There is still a little bit of burr left on the edge or I guess the resin coating is slightly burnt.. it is hard to tell but it is not perfect. Any hints or ideas ?

An electric tile cutter. Optimal would be a cutting disc (narrow) from a big angle grinder because the diamond discs quickly wear down and become blunt when cutting cf. This is my setup for straight plate cutting.

thanks for the response! It sounds good, I would like to give it a try. Would something like this work for example?
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00E98C6ZQ/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B00E98C6ZQ&pd_rd_w=ttKCE&pf_rd_p=00903874-3af0-47e0-8622-ee58087f71cf&pd_rd_wg=E4JJ5&pf_rd_r=BWKFTZXQ3Z6KDPZRCQMT&pd_rd_r=17dd53b3-36d7-11e9-96c1-8d8439bbf4e3
or you mean a handheld one?

Also, would you recommend a disc like this one?

Thanks!

yes, these are exactly the disc dimension I use. I guess the machine will work too. I am using one where the motor slides on a rail above, so the carbon plate can't get scratched from sliding on a metal surface. You may have to improvise to mount the disc. I used a small ring of a worn down angle grinder disc as a chim, otherwise the disc would have been too narrow.

Thanks for the response! I will give it a try. it seems the ones that the motor slides are quite expensive so I think I will go for one similar to the link I sent above..
