Hello,

I have a small question...I do not have access to  a good oven for out-of-autoclave pre-preg (at least not good enough that the cycles are accurate), but I do have access to a sterilizing autoclave...

Sorry for the naive questions, but is such an autoclave OK for pre-preg ? Do you need to keep a vacuum system when using an autoclave despite the fact that there is high pressure in the autoclave itself ? Is moisture a problem (or it's OK but the part must then be put in a protective bag) ? Can someone give me a link to an autoclave protocol (temperature, time, pressure) for the use of the pre-preg in such system ? I don't think there is much indicated on the easycomposite website on that.

Thank you !!

Can anyone recommend a small composites autoclave?  2ft x 2ft x 3ft in size?

To answer your question:

Sterilizing autoclaves generally speaking use heat rather than pressure.  You need low heat and some pressure.
I would not recommend a sterilizing autoclave for composites.  Yes, you would need to keep the vacuum on the entire time for imperfect vacuum bags, but also for outgassing of the part and any moisture.  Obviously you do not want to put the vacuum pump in the oven.  For the spec, go to the product page and download the doc.
