Hello!
I can't find answer of this question. This is about making a RC Airplanes fuselage. All composite fuselages are making by hand layup. My fuselage for example weight afer demold is about 550gr. There is 50g glass cloth outside/1.5mm herex/50g glass cloth inside sandwich. And of course some carbon reinforcements. The question is - IS it possible to make fuselage like this in resin infusion in this weight?

Best regards

usually you could achieve lighter parts with resin infusion compared to hand lamination. however, for this ultra light rc plane sandwich parts, it's a bit different. the key here is to use the lightest core foams and close to none reinforcement on the outside. both, the foam and ultralight cloths have very limited flow propertys.
usually, you could drill some holes into the foam and cut grooves to make the foam behaving like a flow media. hoever, for this low load, ultra light structures this would make the parts already to heavy, because of the resin in the holes and grooves.
you could make similar weight parts with an external flow media, but for this special task, this only complicates the process
so, in my opinion you will get the lightest parts with hand lamination and vacuum compression.
if you want to reduce the weight, you might look for lighter foams (rohacell) and even lighter glass cloth (25g/m^2)
