Hi

I have an Omega 7800 series controller and I don't think that I've needed to perform any tuning work in the P.I.D function when programming multiple ramp cycles for curing various parts. In fact, I think that the process function when using the ramp/soak programme function is just a simple 'on/off' one. I could be wrong, though!

I too found both the tech support and manual a little bit unhelpful, so relied upon a bit of trial and error to get things working okay

The one thing that I do, however, is to attach a couple of external thermocouples to parts when in the oven to monitor temperature more closely from a fairly cheap reader. I found that having the single thermocouple at a fixed location in the oven connected to the controller was not giving an overly accurate picture and that the controller took some time whilst the oven fully 'warmed-up' to provide stable readings and close temperature control.
