Hi guys,
as I promised in my presentation topic, here you can see some of my recent the work:

- Mirror cover for Alfa Romeo Giulietta. This is my car, so I can use this to test materials and techniquesLaugh
- Ducati multistrada tank cover and rear wheel fender: some works for a friend of mine. The construction of the mold for the tank cover was quite tricky
- engine cover for a focus RS: high temperature resin infusion and oven curing. This was a test for temperature resistance of the resin and the 3d printed spacers: after 1 year of track days he has no problems
- backrest for wheelchair: he needed something to support the back, which was durable but also flexible, so I made this carbon sheet. The black plastic supports are 3d printed.

that's all for now BigGrin

Thank you Warren!
and now a new work: home made gear knob for Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
The "core" of the is 3D printed and for the caps you can choose from many different finishes Smile. For instance the silver one is for my car (I am testing it since april) and the blue one is for a friend of mine. The other ones are for "show"

Now I'm working on versions for other cars.

What do you think about it?

Gear knobs can be a strange thing, same as steering wheels, as people have funny preferences because of their tactile nature.  However a simple smooth shape is generally reasonably popular and simple options for carbon finishes again should match many cars.

Being 3D printed you should be able to make it universal by having your 3D print capable of accepting various threaded inserts to accommodate the majority of cars on the market.

yes, 3d printing is perfect for these things because it allows great flexibility in the design and it is reasonable cheap.
The problem is the strength of the printed parts: for this king of application is fine, for more demanding projects the "cheap" 3d print is too weak and "professional" 3d print is too expensive
