Thank you so much for your reply.  when it comes to making the mask itself in the silicone mould, I will be using a lay up technique with fiberglass and resin.  My geltop coat has wax in to make it glossy.  I am wondering what release agent would work between the silicone mould and the gelcoat of the mask.  I was thinking of using the Cil release as it gave good release results between the mould and the jacket mould but would that leave residue or damage the top layer of the mask?  I am hoping for a super glossy finish.

5 layers of mould release wax will be perfect.  Ideally avoid PVA where possible because it leaves minor surface marring that needs sanding and polishing out so unless you are likely to have issues with material incompatibility leading to sticking, then I would avoid PVA where possible.

Hi there,

I'm currently making a mould for a mask consisting of a silicone one piece mould with a 2 part fiberglass jacket.  I have some Cil release for releasing the silicone from the model.  The fiberglass jacket mould will be made in two halves and will meet at the join and finish with a lip which I can bolt together.  I am wondering which kind of release agent I should use on the first half of the fiberglass jacket so it doesn't stick to the lip of the second half. I am making the mould by wet lay up laminating technique.  It doesn't seem to get very hot when it cures so would this wax be suitable to use on its own: https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/number-8-mould-release-wax or would this PVA be preferable: https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/pva-mould-release-agent  I am on a budget so would prefer not to have to buy both!

Thank you
