I have rather stupidly got alot of epoxy on the Black vaccum attachment on the top of my catchpot. (the one which the infusion line goes into) I can't see it as a listed spare do you have them or can you give me a place I can buy one.

I have dissassebled the part cleaned down but can't hold a full vacumn

Thanks

I think the bottom part of the black "socket" is actually glued into the lid .. like the gauge and the hose connector to the vacuum pump --

Mine ended up so covered in resin on the acrylic that I purchased the replacement lid .. I'm now in the process of refurbishing the old one with new connectors after polishing the acrylic up ..

Hi Dravis

mine didn't seemed to be glued to the lid just a nut at the bottom (just epoxy everywhere else)

One of my electricians has spotted me interwebbing and reckons it is just a regular electrical cable gland, will update if I find out

The grommit is bonded into place, however, the internal rubber seal can be removed and replaced if it is that part causing the issue.

Alternatively we do sell full lids if needs be.

If you need any individual components, call or email us and we can set up an order with the specific bits you need no problem.

Hi Phil,

I'm sure we can just send you one free of charge as a replacement.

Please drop an email to orders@easycomposites.co.uk to confirm the address you'd like the gland sending to and we'll sort this out for you.

Kind regards, Matt

I may go for a setup with homemade "quick-connectors"  -- I'll post a thread .. Smooooth

The big advantage of the "through-hose" grommet setup is that you just replace the cheapo plastic vacuum hose..

The downside is that the plastic hose gets squeezed by the rubber grommet inside the "black fitting" The solution to this is to push a short length of metal tubing of the right size inside the plastic hose..

Then the "hose through" setup is easy to get vacuum tight ..

Ooo. The tube inside the tube idea is superb! Thanks for posting this. I find getting a good vacuum seal on this connection to be difficult- I'd go so far as to say that it let's down an otherwise excellent setup - although I can see why it's one this way.

What size metal tube do you use?

A pleasure Phil. That would be ideal for us too if we could just pop it in with your order.

Never had an issue with the pipe inlet, its simple and works.

If you are get loads of resin in the pot then you need to look at your infusion process, ive had the same cup in now for a year and there's about 4mm of resin in the bottom.
