Hi all, going to be infusing a three part mould that's around 3/4 mtr square,

what kind of silicon are you guys using and where do you apply the silicon,

just around the edges, all over the joint flanges etc.

Tacky tape worked for me, just tackytape over the flange and nicely pinch it over the split

I put a bead of silicone around the inside of the flange, right on the edge so that it squeezes out when you bolt it together. Then run your finger along the join to smooth out the excess. Use some teflon washers around the bolts with a dab of silicone on each.

Shouldn't matter what type of silicone you are using, essentially anything should work. Just be aware that some silicones will out gas under heat, so if you are doing an accelerated cure then watch out for that.

Thanks matt for the tape attack.

I will try silicon first and have some red heat proof 100% silicon that will show up well against the black gel coat, hopefully non of the red pigment will cross to the part, only one way to find out.
