GTR its the only way to go at the moment, they don't limit hrs so I'm doing 80/90 hrs a week and they have got some very high end stuff

Worked at URT for a year about 6 years ago and did all the chassis for the A1 gp cars and Palmer Audi but URT aren't what they use to be

Every thing else on the south coast is mickey mouse !

I worked for CTI the last 18 months made the first 5/6 carbon bike frames for marc who works with you

you boys owned by Tony or Mike now ?

bloody ell, that's banging the hours in Smile, I think the most i done in a week was about 80 and I was shattered. But you get used to it! They taking on at the mo? ive still got my dibbers Smile

Yeah ive heard URT are a bit crap now and some of the lads they get in there are entertaining to deal with!

just told marc and andreas and they both say hi, we are slowly plodding along with that project and its full steam ahead on the seat now. We are still owned by tony, mike has left (paid off) so is probably sitting on his yacht somewhere enjoying a drink.

Been in f1 over 30 years so well use to the hours by now

always looking for people we have a massive amount of work

liked doing the bike but the Ali tooling is some of the worst designed I have ever seen and a waste of £100,000 !

don't know where he is but mike will be drinking something !!!!

Always thought we would see the seat, bloody madness a state of the art comp shop and they could never find us any work !

Found your locker at cti today :-) its all been cleaned up as they eventually got khan to pay up.

yep the tooling is overly complex. I havent tried laying one up yet, im going to look at the plybook properly next week. Trouble I found and still find is communication within the group lots of people didnt know we are in germany.
Anyhoo I wonder if the original poster will come back with a photo of his kevlar/zylon for us to inspect Blink

Was sick the last week, but very interesting just reading along! Did I understand that correctly that you work in Germany for Caterham? I´m studing composites here in Stade and would just love to see the real thing. Airbus is good and all but the stuff they do is out of the stone age. would that be possible?
And jup, i´ll be getting a few m² next week after work and take a few pictures for you guys Wink

Yep we are in cologne, but we dont have a manufacturing facility as we are design only.. We use capricorn and other local companies to do our layup, and up until it closed we had the f1 and cti facilities. I know airbus very well and stade, unless its ud m21e they arent interested. Bombardier and eurocopter are the only ones using new ways to manufacture aircraft parts.

But I still dont know what it is and have no data of it. Maybe you guys have an idea.

Herrs a little bit of it. On the upper edge you can see the 'normal' kevlar.

That looks like  "gold-flashed" kevlar twill ...

It has been used in specialized Aerospace applications for heat shielding.

It is kevlar fibres covered by an ultra thin reflective gold layer to enhance the heat reflection of the cloth!

Try putting a propane torch to a sample BigGrin

If it is genuine gold flash kevlar, it is very expensive stuff...

"Sapere Aude"... Dare to KNOW!

The written word is the only truly efficient vehicle for transmitting a complex concept from mind to mind...

103% of all people do not understand statistics...

Do not adjust our mind, theres a fault in reality :-)
