This is exactly what I was meaning, unless you need the strength of the 3 sides id be trying to find a way to see if I can release like this.

However looking at your drawing the 'point' were the release is is much more curved than I though and will create a mechanical lock if its accurate.

That's why i'm now leaning towards doing it in two separate pieces and bonding them together. it's going to be stronger and give a bigger mounting surface. also easier to lay up and release the parts.

I haven't done anything quite like this before so any advice on lay up, trimming, bonding, etc would be much appreciated.

Thats the one, exactly what I was meaning.  I'm a belt and braces man so I'd put tape down the inside too.

Yeah, I'd do them as separate parts.  3mm soric core will leave you with a nice large bonding surface Smile

Why not have the base as one part (joins front and back) and the main body as the second part.  Joints would be virtually hidden and it shouldn't mecahnically lock.

My paint skills are nowhere near as good as yours so I hope the description is OK!

But wouldn't it then be a closed mould? How would I lay it up and bag it?
Or do you mean make the top and bottom pieces separately and bond them together after.
