Does it make sense to apply the GC50 on the mold surface using the gel coat roller ? => https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/resin-application-roller

what would be the pros and cons of it ? (compared to spraying and brushing)

I'm asking because, when you have a small part to do, it's pretty time consuming (and quite difficult) to prepare the cup gun for a small quantity.

thanks for your support Smile

I'm sorry you find it too difficult for brush application.  As said before, brush application isnt easy and GC50 by far suits spray application.

You can talk about other suppliers products anywhere in the forum except the Easy Composites Technical Support area as we aim to focus this area on problems and support related to our own products. We don't want to cause confusion for new customers looking for specific product advise.

Of course asking if we supply X, Y and Z or do an alternative etc is fine.

If you want to discuss the alternative product in this thread, please go ahead and let me know and i can move the thread into the main part of the forum to get a wider exposure and broader discussion.

I had similar problems with a brush, and found that the small sponge that you do your washing up with worked really well!! But don't hold me to that! That's for small moulds, I now spray the bigger ones.

Well,
I have given up on the GC50!
Just not worth the hassle in brush application.
Sorry,
but it's not reliable enough to risk expensive cf/epoxy!

I've been looking for alternatives and found a product from a different supplier.

Hi, I have used you GC50 clear gel coat on a couple of different projects

1. to make a flat carbon fibre panel, using a glass sheet
2. carbon fibre dash board, using a contiboard and plastic home made mould

for both I used Easy-lease release agent.

My problem is when I brush out the gelcoat I seem to get thin streaks in the gelcoat where the gel doesn't want to flow?

Any idea what I'm doing wrong please.

thanks

Look at the post Vinylester/CSM moulds. I give an explaination of a few tricks that I have learned the hard way.

Hope this helps.
