Hi all, newcommer here.  At the moment I am storing my resins ETC in my bedroom which I know is not ideal and would prefier to keep them in the workshop, the problem is that the workshop (insulated shed) can get very cold as I don't use it some weeks, I've seen the temp get as low as 3c in the cold spells we have been having and this can make resin etc go off.
I am considering making somekind of heated cabonet to store the resin in, perhaps a cupboard lined with 50mm Kingspan insulation.  Some form of small heating element and thermerstat to keep the tempreture of the cabonet above +15c to stop my expensive resins etc from perishing.  My fear is however is causing a fire, I know heat and flamable resins don't go togeather, especially if the thermerstat was to break and cause it to overheat.  so anyone have any tips on making a resin storage cabonet which will keep my resins at the correct storage temp and be safe?  Many thanks, lee.

Isn't that a bit extreme to make a heated place just for your resins? I just store them in my garage.
It's quite cold there, especialy now in the winter, but never had problems with the resins...
Constantly heating your resins would cost more than just buy a new batch of resin I think :p
And I couldn't live with the idea of having something constantly heating, with danger of fire at any time...
Couldnt you just make a box in insolation foam or store it in a foam box or something?

Guys building Kit Airplanes often build a insulated cabinet and have a single light bulb keeping it nice and warm.

I simply made a little box of Melamine chipboard with a 25w light bulb inside always on.. in the winter when the temperature in tha garage was around 10°C I could have around 20°C in the box so that the resins are always were at the right temp for use.

I also made another one 100x60x60cm with two 100W light bulbs with a digital thermostat for curing parts. In this  I put 2cm insultaion inside and I can get until 70°C, for higher temp I should put more insulation and more watt... for infusion curing to 120°C at the moment i'm using kitchen oven.....

I keep all mine in an old wardrobe with a £15 morrisons frost watch heater in the bottom just to keep them above freezing. It's only a 500w heater so doesn't take much power and you can adjust the temp

They won't "go off" if it gets too cold. You may find that crystals will form in the resin. Just warm it up again to room temp, or put the container in some warm water etc. If you don't use it often as you said, then there is no point building a warming cabinet. I just keep mine in a box inside the house.

no, just standard bulb...

with two of these 100W each I can go to 70°C, of course if you need more temperature.. you need more power!
