Hi.

Im looking to remould the plug from my 2 part mould after destroying the original using this casting resin. Problem is (unless im blind) I cant see where it says how much 2kg will fill in volume ? Also it possible to thicken the resin during application as pretty sure if the viscosity is too low it will just flow between the gaps. Finally, should I wax and release agent the moulds before casting ?

You will need to seal the join line so it can't leak out. Increasing the viscosity won't stop that unless you make it like custard in which case you might loose detail on the part.

You will need to use a release agent to ensure the part releases from the mould.

The density is 1.06g/cm3  thus 2kg of resin will occupy 1887cm3 or 1.887 litres of volume.

What you can do is fill the shape you want to cast with sugar or rice, then you remove all the rice or sugar and pour it in a cup,

Or use water as long as you have time to let it dry properly. Less likely to leave dust on your mould than rice.

Lol as it being a 2 part mould I had trouble sealing the edges. So i silicone sealed it with my companies normal stuff. Holy s*** its strong, thought i was gonna destroy the mould after I took it apart.

My pattern volume 1250ml so looks like im gnna be buying this product

A hint for getting apart moulds when you use silicones is either slide a slim butter knife type blade to cut the silicone, or if you have access some fishing wire or trap setting wire can be used to cut the silicone abit like using a cheese wire.  Just remember use a small dowel of wood each end of the wire so you have something to pull on without the wire digging in your fingers.

Once seperated, you can usually then lift one end of the silicone remaining and peel it off fairly easily.
