Hi everyone,

I'm about to graduate in engineering and decided to work with carbon fiber (mainly developing and producing bike parts), so I'm building my work room and would like to know some must have tools/equips to work with carbon fiber.

I have a vaccum pump, a resing catchpot, a degasing chamber, a small mill, a dremel rotary cutter, currently building an oven, but figured I could ask for some advice before building the whole work room, so I can put everything I need in it, willing to work mainly with prepreg and infusion.

So, what are the must have tools to work with carbon fiber?

It all depends on how much you want to spend.  You want to be looking in our Tools, Equipment & Supplies  section of the website.

You want a decent set of shears to cut the pre-preg.  The snips can be handy too.

The dibber tools and wedges will help with layup and demoulding.

Then a selection from the Perma-Grit section, so cutting disc for your dremel and a selection of tools for sanding and finishing the edges of the parts.

You could also get a wall rack to hold rolls of vacuum bagging consumables.

Obviously don't forget PPE and consumables as these can all add up.

I didn't get a notification for your answer, Warren, thanks for the info.
I live in Brazil, is it possible to buy prepreg from you guys from easy composites?
