Hello everyone,

I would like to cast the backplate of a tail light.  silicone 2 piece mould is already made and I am looking for the right casting resin.

As this part is needed to mount on the car (screws), it must be strong / flexibility is not important.  Needs to be UV resistant for years.  on some places, part is only 2MM thick.

I was thinking to use the Xencast P6 resin, eventualy combined with carbon fibre powder (as the part must be black anyway).

Is this the best solution or are there other solutions / suggestions?

We don't have any silvered coatings like that.  I believe on most original parts it is a plastic chroming process.  It might be worth looking in the vehicle restoration trade to see if there is a paint based product for DIY application.
