Tooling seems to work fine ?
I'm making 4 little moulds today again with 1 layer gelcoat
pc nice belly from your bike what bike is it ?

also noticed to put down the gelcoat I get better results using this type of brush

Thats why I changed to  2 layers gelcoat I wanted first to put down a fine layer with these more stif brushes especially in the sharp corners of the split moulds .
I always did this with the unimould gelcoat so I can get the split corners airbubble free and afte rthat a second layer with a normal brush.
But I now see my 3 moulds I made of high temp epoxy tooling with 1 layer having some minor air bubbles but no delaminating or my 4 moulds now with  2 layers no airbubbles but delaminating gelcoat so 1 layer it wil bee I think .

will take some pics later

I use angled fitchs from brewers paint shop stiffer so easier to use.put the tooling mold is in oven again  to do final post cure.the mold is a lot thinner in carbon it will be interesting how part will come out.will test Monday.

just had my el160 laminating resin down on the 1 layer geloat parts.
Only problem I noticed it that on sharp edges the EL160 desolves the gelcoat and you can see the part thru it.
Dont know how big a problim this wil be but had this with the unimould tooling resin also and didn't got any problems  so lets hope this wil work also .

Started with some smaler moulds again today .
ad some small high temp epoxy moulds made before and they had no problem and I remember I only used 1 layer gelcoat

May try 1 layer gel coat then.i no when I have been trimming mold flanges with disc cutter gel coat has separated from second layer as if it has not bonded and Ian 100 percent it's not my lay up.

Same here thing when you trim moulds to part size you better use 1 layer to be sure .
What parts do you make ?

Fairing for my bike.

Just demolded tooling.

Did you post cure with split Mold bolted together if not that could be a cause.also you Mold lay might not be orientated right if your Mold was thick that probably wouldn't be a problem.iam testing ex preg tooling system I'll let you no the out and I have some old small vylnester Mold which iam post curing to see what results come from that and any issues.

The mold was bolted together.
I tried a difirent methode with this mold ,what might be the problem .
I  had the 2 layers of  gelcoat than cuppling layer gelcoat , a layer of arround  4 mm  el160 moulding paste followed with 1 layer woven glass 280G twill and a layer 400Gram twill weave with the el160 laminting resin .
I had a unimould  split mould in the oven for curing and this didn't move a bit looks great to hold the temp of 125°

May be worth testing some ex preg on unimold.ive got tooling ex preg in oven I debaulked every ply so I will no in 30 hours what results are.
