Hey guys,
One of my latest jobs. Goes with the front end and roof, and a number of other jobs I've done for this car over the years.
Basically the car was making too much power for the 235 rear tyres and wouldnt understeer, so when the fibreglass bodywork got damaged we decided to widen the rear arches by 50mm to fit 295 tyres in. I also made a number of other modifications to make removal a 10-minute 1-person job, compared to the 4-hour, 2-person job that it was originally.

Not bad at all! bet that makes it fly when you consider they arent that heavy to start with.

Final trimmed weight is 6kg. A 20kg saving over the original 26kg fibreglass version.

Incredible work Martin, have you had any feedback from the customer yet? I'm assuming he's happy and wow, 20kg saving is awesome! :)

Thanks Rich, I jetted off to Europe before the owner got to see it in person (only finished it the day before leaving), but he has seen photos and the feedback I got was that he loves it haha. And....

Great work and great results for such a big infusion. Certainly a beneficial weight saving. For such a "light" car, there is a lot of weight saving to be had on the elise/exige cars.

There is indeed! With just the fibreglass panels I have replaced with carbon over a 4 year period, we have saved 122kg.

Hi Hanaldo, That is a ONE BIG WONDERFUL WORK bro!! I had doubt about using vacuum infusion method for large panels and now I got it all cleared. I have one question if you are kind enough to answer.....

122kgs weight saving on bodywork is fantastic... amazed the stock panels even weighed that much. I didn't save anything like that much with my noble, however I have way over-engineered my body panel...

Excellent results. I’d like to replicate them actually. I’ll be replacing the clams on my car (similar size and shape to the lotus).
