Metal flake/glitter

Group: Forum Members Posts: 338, Visits: 2K	Has anyone used or experimented with glitter or metal flake-type material when making laminates for added decorative effect? I'm assuming that it won't penetrate fabric enough to be added to the resin during infusion so perhaps it would need to be added to an in-mould coating or post-production laquer Bling overkill or can it be done subtley to add a little sparkle to 'plain old carbon'?

Group: Forum Members Posts: 363, Visits: 3K	Flake looks great when it's done properly but you normally have a solid back colour. If you were infusing you would have to spray in a clear gel, another gel with the flake, then a solid pigmented gel, then layup for infusion. It's a complete b***h to fix if you ever need to. You also end up having a very thick gelcoat layer which sometimes can crack/craze.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 460, Visits: 5.2K	I didnt believe this that SHD do glitter preg!!!! but I had someone ask at the JEC Show and they do a glitterpreg! Im going to get some for a gaffer dazzler job at work. Will get photos of it when it comes in
