For me the desired finish depends on the part and its location, engineered components look best in flat or Satin, small decorative items look best in gloss and large carbon areas look too garish in gloss, a satin again compliments the weave on large panels.

No pinholes.... This is the most recent tank out of the mould. Not even trimmed here as the filler cap hole has not even been cut yet..

Morepower, How do you get that finish?  How do you fill pinholes?  I use prepreg on aluminum under vacuum and always get pinholes.  It doesn't help that EC surface layer often comes with pinholes off the roll.

I like gloss, but I'm actually also a big fan of peel ply finishes. Have made a few parts with a peel ply finish on the surface, and I really like it. 

I personally prefer a satin finish. Two good things with it are you have a dull mould so no worries with polishing and a patchy gloss finish. Also much easier to then lacquer if the customer wants.. 

Sadly for me most prefer gloss finishes...
