Group: Forum Members Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 28K	Leak detectors do work, and if you have the electrical knowledge to knock one up yourself for 30 bucks then they are absolutely worth it. Mine has saved me a few times. I would just never splash out $1000 for a 'proper' one, given how simple they are (I don't like paying through the nose for things that cost a piece of chewing gum to make). They also aren't a miracle saviour, they won't find the leak every time especially if your part is complex. I'd say if I've got a leak, I've got a 50/50 chance of finding it with the leak detector. It normally ALWAYS finds a hole in the bag though. Every time. Holes make a lot of noise, whereas leaks through the sealant tape are very silent.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 592, Visits: 1.9K	One problem is that not all micro-leaks make a sound ... so even an Andrea is not "infallible" -- I was inspired however, so I'm working on an electronic solution/aid - It's basically just a small stereo headphone amplifier with an input jack for my very old Sony stereo Mic (From a long defunct "Walkman Pro" ) But I will try to add some sort of circuitry that adds a high frequency (ultrasonic) input as well .. it should be possible to do a "frequency divider" to be able to hear the higher freqs, and mix them with the ordinary audible ones.. The problem old gits have is a lack of sensitivity to high frequencies.. Andreas ears can detect up to 19 KHz .. my ears stop at 12 - 13 KHz (and that's very good for someone my age and hobbies!!) The nose-cone looks Awesome!! Good job there!! I want to make one now for my Agusta -- "Sapere Aude"... Dare to KNOW! The written word is the only truly efficient vehicle for transmitting a complex concept from mind to mind... 103% of all people do not understand statistics... Do not adjust our mind, theres a fault in reality :-)

Ive managed to do a couple of small moulds for my gsxr and will update in the near future so i thought i would post a picture of the cover i made for the mates races bike. Its a VFR 400 NC30, he's having a small ally tank mounted under the cover. Chris.
