I am creating a carbonfiber body for a small prototype car, I was thinking of  embedding timber mounting brackets into the body, I was just wondering if this was possible and how best to go about doing it.

Yeh totally, very easy to do. What manufacturing process are you using? 

No problem at all, just "design in" the places where you want the wood inserts, and laminate them in .. Shape the wood so that the Carbon or glassfibre cloth will conform easily around it.

Long strips of wood embedded into the parts will increase stiffness in the direction of the strips, which can be a great benefit.

I'm not sure which technique would be best to use, I was thinking of using the resign infusion method, I cant use prepreg as I dont have a large enough kiln, the total surface area is around 6m^2, I want to keep it as light as possible.

Then I would use infusion, with a peelply backing, and then laminate in the wood afterwards...  Alternatively seal the wood with epoxy when cut/sanded to shape, wrap them in peel-ply - then cure

When laying up the "stack" for infusion remove the peel-ply from the wood inserts, then just add them inside the infusion "stack"  (I do this with roughly sanded metal inserts)
