Then I would use infusion, with a peelply backing, and then laminate in the wood afterwards... Alternatively seal the wood with epoxy when cut/sanded to shape, wrap them in peel-ply - then cure
When laying up the "stack" for infusion remove the peel-ply from the wood inserts, then just add them inside the infusion "stack" (I do this with roughly sanded metal inserts)
