Still having voids after several attempts

Hi,

This is my result of several attempt of resin infusion. For the first time, i'm having quite a lot of voids on the surface. On second and third try, i have slowed down the resin, and clamp the vac line first then after a minute later i clamp the resin feed line, but still having the problem. 

The part that i'm working on is approx. 1M x 1M. Its a car fender. 

I'm using infusion epoxy resin from Axson (epolam 5015). The mold also made from Axson tooling gelcoat. In my country, temperature is not an issue even at night.

i'm able to pull full vac and there are no leak after i left it for 1 hour. the carbon i use is 650gsm from EC. Total time to infuse is less than 15 min.

You guys have any idea?

Looks more like it's a bit on the lean side, but you're doing the right things... Is any resin being removed via the vac outlet before clamping?

yes, there are epoxies going into that catch pot before i clamped the vac line. 

the way i stacked the all the parts is:

mold>>carbon cloth>>peel ply>>infusion mesh>>vac bag

Looking at the TDS, the resin looks good so that shouldn't be an issue. And if your ambient temps are good then that should be fine too. 

I think it's dry. What is your exact layup, ie. How many layers of carbon, is your infusion mesh covering the whole part, etc. How much resin do you mix up and how much do you have left over?

Could this be from not degassing the resin long enough before infusing?

that is quite a heavy cloth and you could be transferring air from the resin to the weave joins.

I noticed this in some of my early infusions and have a better finish since leaving to degas a little longer, this is only from my own work as ive read people post that they don't worry about air bubbles in the pot.

Air in the resin should only cause pin holes, this is totally dry.

i'm using just one layer of cf cloth. i figure out the exact weight of the cloth after i trimmed the edge. in this case, its 500 gram. And i prepare the resin about 700 gram. If this is not enough, can you guys share how do you calculate the resin?

Yep, see if your part is roughly 1sqm then that is no where near enough resin. The flow mesh itself needs 700g per sqm. Your part won't be 1sqm, it's a bit smaller than that, so that's why your results are close but still a touch dry. 

To calculate your resin requirements, Paul has described a very good equation you can use:
