Hi,

Hoping I could ask from suggestions from everyone.

I'm about to start creating a f/g parcelshelf for the car and need to take a mould of the adapted current one.  The issue that I have is that the shelf is made from carpet! not the best material to paint gellcoat onto and expect it to release easily.

Friends have suggested shaving it right down and painting it, waxing it, cling film - I'm umming on the idea of trying to vacuum wrap it as best as possible with the release sheet the guys use in the videos for putting between the f/g / carbon and the vacuum bag.  Any fold marks can be cleaned up post production using body filler.

As the shelf will be either painted, vinyled or carpeted (probably painted) I don't mind a bit of filler on the final product.

What does everyone think? any ideas?

Cheers

Post a picture of your shelf, it sounds like a flat shape so it should make for an easy male or female mould made from cheap board?
