,how long do you wait for the coupling coat

If at all ,

Do you go straight ahead with the tooling gel or do you have to wait for the coupling coat to go of like the gel coat 

before laminating the  rest of  the mold ,

Can u tell im new to this lol

I have read that but it doesnt tell you if you need to wait for the coupling coat with the one layer 150g csm

to go off a little or do you go straight ahead with the tooling resin and reinforcement ???

Hi Daz,

With the Unimould system, the coupling coat (laid with a 150-225gsm chopped strand mat) should be left to cure at least to a 'tack' state, which is normally about 3-4hrs, you then proceed with the backing ply. You can leave it longer than that, however, if the tackiness has been lost you should scuff it with course sand-paper to ensure that the backing with bond properly. If you proceed with the backing plys too early you risk disturbing the coupling layer and pottentially get air-voids emerging between the gel-coat and reinforcement.
