Thanks 'Scott racing' I will look in to that repair as with the other options. The quote was from a 'you have a Lambo so you must be rich'  type company. Which I am not!

just looked at the damage again, if it was me I would completely sand back the first ply, repair the damaged area by scarfing the area back and building it up.
Looking at the material layup- as it looks as though they have a kevlar reinforced carbon, but the key to making a good repair will be to find the same or very similar carbon weave as its not a standard size twill, I presume the quote you got was from the lamborghini flying doctor service?

Yes I guessed that's what you meant. I need to trial a little before I venture to the car.

Previously i meant, don't wrap it so kind of vinyl.   that i meant with fake carbon.

repairing it with another layer of CF if everything goes like it should, it would look as new Smile

uhhhh .. be careful   Sounds a bit like you've been stung by the "Composites bug"  --- It' a disease most detrimental to spare time and wallet, only one illness worse in that respect is a condition called "Armas Numeralis"

Not only does that make you poor, it also stunts your social acceptability, tends to make your views politically incorrect, and may in time turn you into a redneck BigGrinLaughWow

Guys,

Just noticed your replies, many thanks for them. I reckon I am going to try to repair with resin and make the repair a feature in carbon fibre. I will send you photographs of the finished article, and if it does not look so good, then I am going for the paint option in either white or black.

On another point dismantle the front suspension over the weekend and the inner panels are all carbon fibre so I may have a good at remaking one, the creative juices are flowing!

Errrhmm .. Doze... Its NOT "Fake Carbon"    The skirts are actually Carbon -kevlar items ... Original ones it would seem ... Repairing them with new Carbon is just the natural way to do it.

Nothing "fake" about adding a new extra layer of REAL carbon-fibre .. BigGrin

Don't wrap it.  rather paint it in white like rest of the car. fake carbon looks terrible. on Lambo even more terrible. Smile

Many thanks for the reply. I like the idea of the feature and if it does not look well I will go for the paint or wrap option. Although wrapping real carbon fibre in a carbon wrap seems a bit perverse. A summer job when I build up the confidence. Will post a picture when completed.

Regards,

John

This might be an unorthodox approach but given its always going to look repaired if you try to match the weave why not make it a new feature?  Ie make the new bit obvious so add some silvershadow fabric or coloured carbon?  Alternatively you could do something good with paint?  Whilst I wouldn't recommend anything gaudy there is some good inspiration in the hotrod world.

BTW: I'd LOVE a lambo.  Soooooo Jealous!
