Hi!
I bought some carbon fiber and made my mould and so on.
But i could not see now when I got to the problem. That how do
I insert helicoils or some thing like it to be able to get the hood onto my car?
Without cracking the part or making the metal start to corrosion.

Sorry for my bad english.

Thanks for your help! Smile

So you've made a bonnet? How does the factory one attach? If it needs a threaded insert, I would use a nutsert or a rivnut.

Cannot stand riv nuts. For composites, always something along the lines of big head bonding fasteners. It's easy to make your own if you're on a budget

Watch the EC bonnet making tutorial on the Tube ... part three deals with bonding on fasteners ...
I normally use home made ones.. I have a friend who Tig welds stainless bolt studs to small plates made from 1 - 2 mm stainless steel sheet

ultimately there are loads of different methods you can use.

You have to bear in mind that composites generally will not take a thread and generally do not like point loading forces.

With that in mind, items like bighead fasteners are ideal as they solve both issues, however repair washers, home made bigheads etc can be equally as effective.
