Hi everyone..!

I'm new here on this forum... Also I'm new in composites world...Smile
My idea is to make carbon diving fins in mould with two sides with vacuum infusion. (dim. 20x70cm). In first few trys I used glass fibre and I had some "holes" without resin. Now I know the choice of resin was wrong....
My next try will be with carbon reinforcement and infusion epoxy resin.
From this point I need suggestions about tipe of carbon..(thickness.. UD or TWILL... or combination...) Fin have to be strong and shiny from both sides... Mould is made from plexyglass.

Plesae help...!

Yes, that' the fin... without rubber part for the feet.
On the picture is infusion of the epoxy in mould. I have to have both sides shiny, so the plexyglass mould is from both sides. In that case it's impossible to use infusion mesh. Problem with dry spot is caused because thick epoxy resin. I have to change it...

I want to make them from carbon because it's light and strong. Also, I can affect to thrust and the point of flexibility

Al my tests until now are with glass... (because of price in testing phase). Firs layer is 80g then two layers of 400g UD cuted diagonaly, and again 80g.
That was material which I had... just to test if I can make infusion right and if I can get shiny both sides. Only problem is that dry spot. Now I'll change the resin type....

Im not shure about type of carbon which I have to use in final product... First idea is 4 layers... 200g Twill + two layers of 150 UD cuted diagonaly + 200g Twill....

Please advice...!
