Hello,

Just a quick question. The rolled wrapped carbon fibre tubing, is there a smooth finish on it or is it kind of rippled?

Hi G,

The way to describe it would be ribbed rather than rippled. The 'steps' on the surface are simply a function of the shirnk tape that's spiral round around them during the manufacturing process. I think the photos on the website give an acurate idea of what the tubes look like. If you slide your nails over the surface you'll hear a slight 'zzzzz' sound as they go over the faint ribs.

When Warren says that you'll find this finish on fishing poles, this certainly won't always be the case. I'm not a fisherman but so far, of the poles I've seen customers bring in to ask about how to repair them, I've only ever seen carbon fibre tubes that have been manufactured by pulltrusion, they therefore have a smooth finish from the pultrusion process.

All the best, Matt
