Not sure if this is the correct section so please move if need be.

Up until last week I never even held a piece of carbon or kevlar cloth

until I undertook this massive project.

The plan is to make a complete wide arch bodykit for a 106 Maxi rally car and it had

to be kevlar as per the genuine Peugeot sport item.

I sourced a set of moulds, got all my material from Easy Composites and jumped in feet first.

I did it all hand lay up, 1 layer of 300g kevlar, 2 diolen and a final 300g kevlar.

I'm more than delighted with the results, a few dry spots but its going to be painted anyway so I can fill the low spots.

Hii..

That would be Looks great and cost effectiveness for painted product finish, kevlar is dificult enough to trim and cut.. realy great for abrasion purpose. What the resin you use for hand lay up  this fabric?

I was able to stand on the wing without doing any damage.

The quarter panels are a little more flexable so I might add some kevlar

square patches to the rear for more stiffness. I have already used 5-6 layers of kevlar

around the wheel arch area to add strength incase it rubs the wheel or is

lifted by the arch.

Those panels looks great and really impressive given you have just started doing this - great find getting hold of the moulds!
Have you looked at the carbon/kevlar mixes? eg Carbon/Twaron
I've got some of this sat waiting for some Lotus Sunbeam arch guards I've made - similar application toyours and the stiffness or CF combined with the abrasion resistance of kevlar in a single cloth seemed like a really good combo.

Keep posting progress - great to see what others are doing!

Hey Stuart,

I'm actually going to make 2 wings and front bumper from Carbon Kevlar for a bit

more strength, I will add extra patches/layers to the lower corners of the front

bumper and places like that where it will get hit hard.

Your a lucky man to have a Lotus Sunbeam.
