Hi guys, newbie here.

I would like to have a matte carbon finish, but i really don't find this much information online and i thought i might as well ask the pro's on this forum what would be the best coarse of action.

1)  Wet sand it with  400-800, (1200?) done

or

2) wet sand it with  400'ish grid and then spray a matte lacquer on there (if so what lacquer would u use, a car lacquer or just a normal lacquer for wood, metal, plastic purposes?)
=> would this one do Motip acryl matte lacquer?

A matte coating will give you the best result. Sanding the surface achieves a matte finish, but also looks sanded no matter what grit you use.

You still want to use an automotive or marine clear coat though, coatings designed for timber are not ideal. Generally the way they work is the matte is an additive that is mixed in with a regular clear coat, and you select the percentage of matting that you would like from 0-30%, 0% being a full gloss obviously and 30% being a full matte. This let's you 'tune' the finish so you can achieve a satin gloss or a satin or a full matte or whatever you would like, and still provides the full benefits of what clear coat you are using.
