hi all! im making a cnc positives to cast a mould using xpreg tooling carbon, but have some doubts on the finishing of the positives to cast the mould as perfect as i can.
i would like to polish the cnc machined piece as much as possible but due the work and the shape of the piece and importance on the precise dimensions, im thinking instead of sanding and polishing,
just paint the mould with high gloss car paint, oven cured, but i dont know if it will react when i cure the piece with the xpreg tooling materials, thanks

Painting the mould is likely to cause all sorts of issues when it comes to using it for pre-preg.  You can use proper mould sealers to add a level of surface gloss to the mould. However the same can be done to the pattern.  we would always recommend doing as much as you can to the pattern to get a high quality mould from the offset.

Hi Warren, Thanks for the fast response, mi main deal here is that im in mexico and dont know exactly what to look for in a mould sealer, i cant get shipped the easycomposites sealer, and i dont know what would work for an alluminum pattern to achieve an excellent finish other than polishing.
