hi guys, 
was wondering how trim clips are made? 
are they part of a two piece mold, or are they made using a separate type of mold (e,g vacuum form or silicone mold) and then stuck onto the carbon fiber part?

hi guys, 
was wondering how trim clips are made? 
are they part of a two piece mold, or are they made using a separate type of mold (e,g vacuum form or silicone mold) and then stuck onto the carbon fiber part?


This is done with injection moulding. complex and expensive moulds with in-mould slides that retract for demoulding, this is used for mass production. Looks like these are carbonfiber pieces with a thermoset injection moulding plastic.

     thanks for the replies, isnt there a way to DIY make the clips? i was thinking about using Plasticine to block the holes and make each clip into a "block", then make a vacuum formed plastic mold of.....

     sounds like a lot of hassle, I would 3d print the clips and bond them on.

     I make silicone moulds with CS25 and then cast them withXencast P6 Toughened Polyurethane Casting Resin. When they are cured i just epoxy them with a bit of carbon fiber wave on to the part
