HÍ'm writing from Spain.

I need some help to fix up a Kayak Polp paddel. Ih has a yellow band surrounding it all that it's suposed to be a Kevlar textil band fixed with epoxi.

I've found the Video "How to Repair a Damaged Composite Canoe or Kayak" and I thought I may find help here Wink

Could you please help me with the right choice of the materiarls I may need?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

I'm having problems with teh epoxi resin. The first time (the first side of the paddle) went perfect, but the other ones remain "sticky". It doesn't seem to cure completely. What can I be doing wrong? Is there a way to remove that unfinished resin to start again?

Thank you very much.

Javier.

Hi Javier,

There's only 3 things that could cause the epoxy to not cure properly:-

1) The mix ratio - you need to be really accurate with your measurements. Measure by weight, not volume. Aim to be acurate to 1g.
2) The thoroughness of the mixing - always ensure you spend lots of time to carefuly mix the epoxy and hardener together
3) The temperature where you're working - It is essential to maintain an ambient (workshop) temperature of 20'C or very close to 20'C. If the temperature becomes too low then the epoxy can slow down or stop curing altogether. I would suggest putting your part somewhere very warm to see if you can 'kick-start' the cure again.

Try heating the part up before you resort to stripping the uncured resin off.
