I'm trying to find a suitable resin system or clear gel coat that is safe for food use with a decent temperature allowance.

Is there such a material? I've been doing a bit of searching and found the ART resin from the USA which is seemingly ok for food use. But im looking for something that i can possibly use in infusion or snap cure compression moulding.

Any help or direction  greatly appreciated.

Hi Scott,

What temperature do you need? You're right about ArtResin having approval for incidental food contact which would be helpful if you're selling this product commercially but it's worth noting that many resins, if used correctly and fully cured, would be inert and nonreactive and therefore not unsuitable for this type of application.
You mention infusion or compression snap-cure, these are reasonably different ways to go. Could you explain a little more about the product or manufacturing process?

Hi matt. 
Im looking into the feasibility of making composite tableware  for myself initially and the only stuff ive seen online is the plates and tablemats on carbon fibre gear.
However they are unsafe for dishwashers and only coated on oneside for a very high price to boot.

I do a lot of work with infusion and compression moulding of parts but my main experience is with prepreg but i dont think the expense of prepreg is worth it in this application.

If i can infuse a 2 to 3mm plate with a suitable resin i can waterjet cut the tablemats out of it. Im just looking for something myself and family can safely put food on.
