I just finished a split mold, made of High temp gelcoat + putty reinforcement
Before completing the second halve, I applied 6 easylease coats on the first halve of the mold and the pattern.
I left the mold to cure.
Can I let the mold 5 days before separating the two halves ? Will the easylease still work in 5 days . I know this is semi permanent release but I was wondering if it had a limit in time.

Thanks

Hi Tony,

Just checking in on the support forum over the Christmas break; I can see that you've been well looked after by oakmont and Hanaldo on this one; they're both right that you should be fine to come back to your Easy-Leased part several days later without any problems at all. If you're ever unsure then you can always add one extra application of Easy-Lease at least 1 hr before you lay up but we wouldn't expect any problems either way. One time when we would recommend re-application is if you're pulling the mould out of storage where it's been for months or years, in this case it would certainly be recommended to re-apply, just to be sure that so contamination from storage has interfered with the release agent.

All the best and enjoy your New Year.

Matt

Hi Matt

My question was more about demoulding time,
But I think it was answered also on previous posts on the forum
I understood I can let a mold for curing or a closed mold with a cured parts inside for multiple days with no more problem for demolding as long as the release agent was applied during the process.

Thanks again
Have a good end of the year!

Got it, right - sorry! Maybe too many Christmas sherries over the break. Quite right though, there is no limit to how long you can wait, all it will do is improve things by ensuring full curing of the resin and therefore reducing any possible print through.

No problem Matt
All worked fine when I opened the mold 5 days later.
Really happy with the result
