Hi guys,

quite a while ago I came across the MTI hose, developed in Germany. A regular spiral tube (albeit a larger diameter) covered in an air-permeable membrane that is impervious to resins.

Question is, are any of you familiar with this product? They promise cosmetic, pinhole-free surface, without the need for catchpot and continuous vacuum. Was just curious if easycomposites or some of the other pros out there have any experience and if its worth giving a try, looks interesting.

Cheers

I know that most people do not believe in new things, and even the experienced laminators are very sceptic when they should try new things. Never change a running system, I am also a fan of this princip.
But most people which will tell you they never have problems with pinholes, dry areas, voids, resin waste..... will have these problems sometimes more or less.
We have a lot of customers who infuse all their parts with MTI now, and they infuse since years and a lot of parts.
For them most times the process stability and the reproducibility of the quality is the most important thing. For the DIYs how you called them it is most times the chance to get a perfect part with much less experience in infusion.
Of course can you produce good parts by infusion without MTI hose, but it is much easier with MTI hose.
Also the physical pros of the hose are there and you can not deny them. The MTI hose is no miracle cure, but it will help you a lot.
If you do not have the correct parameters you will not get even a good part with MTI, but if everything is correct you will get a very nice part.
