Hi Everyone,

Been a while since I've posted but been enjoying reading the projects being done by others.

I'm slowly (ever so!) restoring my Austin 7 chassis and will be ordering an ash frame to mount a body to the chassis.
Traditionally this is covered in 20g (approx. 0.7mm) thick Aluminium panels but was wondering if anyone would recommend a resin infusion stack that would give similar strength?

I'd like to think that a stack of ProFinish/Bi-Axial/Bi-Axial/Diolen would be reasonable but am certainly open to suggestions.

It probably won't be ready for the body until next year but getting this information now gets those thoughts out of my head and means I can concentrate on more important things like finishing the chassis first!!

Thanks in advance for any help/ advice.

Cheers,
David

0.7mm is quite thin, you would be about there with one layer of 200gsm and one layer of 450gsm carbon. That would give you a thickness of around 0.65mm, so you could go a bit stiffer by using a 650g layer instead of the 450g to give you a thickness of roughly 0.85mm. Sort of depends what strength you need from those panels. Not sure what weight bi-axial you are thinking of using, but I suspect your layup would be substantially thicker than the 0.7mm you are aiming for.
