Sorry to take this off topic, but I thought I recognised macg somewhere, remembered I took this photo of your car I think 2012

Seem to remember you guys getting through 3 or 4 engines that weekend with some late nights, I was trying to sleep in the garage next door

Yes that was a pretty dismal weekend - lost just the one engine but then one of the drivers hit a wall hard which caused a chain reaction of failures through the night.  Still, it would be boring if it was easy...!!

Same for us too! Thought there might be a more sophisticated method I am not aware of yet - I am sure there is, just yet to find it!

This looks fantastic - great work.

One thing I can't understand, is when doing projects like this, how on earth do you manage to get the curves on both sides the same? Do you have a selection of templates that you follow or is there another technique?

For us its just by eye, its the first time any of us have ever tried this kind of thing and we have learnt so much its un true, in the main were looking at it and using a tape measure to try and get things equal.

2 more sleeps before were back on it again, can't wait BigGrin

looking great! I can't tell you how lucky you guys are to be able to be working in an area where you have lots of space that allows you to walk back and check your work from afar. When I built my first bodykit, the car was inside a garage, and I could only walk back a few feet away from the car, and it really hindered my perspective to double check if I like the designs that I was building. Looks great and I can't wait to see the progression.

Cheers Brett, yes your right we have lots of space, saying thats its a bigger area to sweep up!! BigGrin

We ended up flatting off on Sunday using blocks and really did a great ob smoothing the body out. We got a second hi build primer coat on and started on the rear arches, after 3 hours the second coat was dry to touch, but we think it was still not ready to rub down, so were back in this weekend flatting off the second coat, we will see if a third coat is needed or if we can go straight to high build gloss? starting to enjoy the work again now that we can see it coming together.

Great day on the car today with Brett, at last we have the front all together and we went to hi build primer coat, been looking forward to getting to this stage for a while. I must add that the hi build primer goes a long way, i was surprised by how much we covered with not a lot of product. Tomorrow were flatting this first coat, plan on a second coat and hoping we can cover with hi build gloss before the weekend is over?

So a little more work was completed this weekend, the front is almost finished, we just need to seal the bonnet to the rest of the front end to make it 1 piece, then were on to high build primer and then gloss. Cant wait til its finished!!

You should be able to do the bumper in one piece. There are no overhangs, and as long as the fenders are separate, you shouldn't have a problem.
