Hi i am about to try out the chemical "easy lease" release agent.
In the application instructions on the website it recommends 6 coats for new molds.
Mine  are old molds that have been cleaned of all the old wax.
Do i still need 6 coats on these old molds?

Yes 6 coats. By new, we mean new to EasyLease, thus apply the full recommended coating.

Subsequent re-coatings depend on process used.  Aggressive processes like resin infusion and pre-preg, we recommend a single coat after each use of the mould.  For less intensive processes such as wetlay, only re-coat when you notice any deteriation of the release performance which could well be several releases.

Another quick EasyLease question so tagged it on the end...

Does Easylease have a shelf life if the can is tightly sealed or does it go off if its stored ina  garage (so can get down close to 0degC?
I'm using Easylease on glass or bare metal moulds with resin infusion and the last half dozen releases have been much harder but the prep & method are unchanged.

Thanks for any pointers

You need to ensure the bottle lid is not left off the bottle for any longer than necessary as EasyLease is hyrdoscopic so absorbs moisture out the air which can deteriate the product.

The shelf life is 12 months based on being kept in a cool, dry, well ventilated area.

Thanks Warren - pretty good at capping the container promptly so I'll try it with another mould before binning it.

If you still find it is grabbing try Marbocote 220 or 101 I think.. Call them and ask. I had one part which was grabbing when using 227CEE release and I have been using 220 since and it has been great.. But it does leave a slight release agent residue on the part which polishes off.
