How did you make the lay-up ... (number of layers, and what CF cloth ?) The key to stiffness and very light weight is to use a core material, like Soric, if you infuse. IMHO a helmet should resist sharp impact shock, prime function of a white-water kayak helmet is to protect from rock impact, I should think A cored construction with a kevlar mix (like Twaron, for looks) on the outside should be very good. several layers on the outside of the core, maybe only one on the inside.
