yeah, I totally agree, and I do the same.
I was nearly sure about you using sprayed GC on this one, because I recognize slight prints through it, marking the cloth, don't know if you see what i mean. The cloth is not completely flat, due to slight spots left by the spray gun.
This is a concern to me, as I'd like a perfect cosmetic part, and I'm looking for a solution to get rid of that.
A solution would be to slightly sand the GC once cured, to flatten it.
Sounds like you are either laying down the GC50 too thick or with too much air pressure. If applied correctly you should not need to sand it before lay-up, sort of defeats the object of using it in the first place.

Hi
it may be an issue with the image but the part came out quite well and the finish of the g50 was relatively flat prior to laying up the
carbon.
ok

I use 2 layers of 245gr all over and a third on the perimeter. I will add another 3 or 4 layers where items fasten or strips where I need to reduce flex from wind ect....
The total weight is sub 1Kg...
The second photo shows some heavier carbon which was 400gr but I stopped using it as I ran out of the 400gr pre-preg and didnt want to buy 25sq m just for reinforcements..

Hi
I used G50 and the EC spray gun, for me the finish of the mould is critical for producing a good part and reducing the time needed to polish the part etc.

Here is a front mudguard I made earlier, it has had the excess carbon removed and has yet to be polished. I used infusion and three layers of 200g carbon and a strip of core material to reduce torsional flex.
