After doing the vacuum bag and peeling the peel ply in your bonnet video, the surface that the peel ply was on seems dull, can this be buffed to a shine or will it remain dull?

Its supposed to have a coarse texture, to act as an ideal bonding surface without prior preparation. Sanding and polishing that surface would be hard work and take a long time, depending on shape and size of part. Not worth it really.

There are peel-plys available that produce a smoother surface when removed.

An alternative if you want a great finish is when you make the inner mould, mould the underside of the bonnet too.  That way you can have shiny surface top and bottom if that's the look you're after.
